Can I just say that potty training is the worst thing I've ever had to do as a parent. Ryker was a breeze when I actually buckled down and potty trained him, but Maguire has been a different story. When he tells you to change his diaper, brings you a new diaper, tells you which diapers he wants to wear (he will only wear diapers with mickey mouse on the front. Cody accidentally bought ones with winnie the pooh and there is almost nothing I can do to get them on him. Ugh!) then you know it's time to potty train. I did manage to get pull-ups on him yesterday, but no amount of treats...or rewards is working. HELP!!!!!!!
Today we are back to diapers and will wait a little longer until I think he's really ready...or I'm ready...whichever I decide. hehe!
This is soooooo not a simple task.

We used the 'potty boot camp' with Cohen. It's an online book that's $5. It worked like a dream. But I have to say, I think 90% of potty training is timing. I think youre probably right to take a break and try again later if he's just not into it. Good luck!
Good luck Kim! I am so not looking forward to training my second.
I am still battling with my boy.......he is now 3!!! He is the exact same in that he freaked out over me buying a new pattern on the diapers and will tell me when he needs a new diaper but it is a full on battle each and every attempt I have made to train him. no amounts of bribes, sticker charts, toys, etc get his attention in the least. UGHHHHHHHH. (Maybe we should scream about it together.....lol)
I keep trying to remind myself that he needs to be on board for it to work but my patience waiting until he is ready is wearing thin!
I'm not looking forward to doing this with my son. We'll leave that task to dad!
Ah, I somewhat understand. I attempted to try potty-training about a month ago, but quit after 3 days. My wise husband said, "Wait till she's a little older". So we're waiting. And delaying all the accidents... ;) Here's to hoping it will get simpler!
